Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4, after becoming the fastest smartphone to reach 1 million unit sales, has now achieved another milestone. The company has sold over 5 million units of Redmi Note 4 within a span of just six months. The phone was launched in January this year and has broken all records to become the best selling smartphone in Q1 as well as Q2 2017, according to Xiaomi. It means that 1 out of every four smartphones sold online was a Redmi Note 4 during past six months. The device held a total 7.2% market share in Indian smartphone market for the second quarter of 2017. The news was shared from Xiaomi’s Manu Kumar Jain’s official twitter account where he tweeted that the smartphone has hit the 5 million mark and the data is from January 23 to July 23, a period of 6 months.
In comparison, the Redmi 3S hit the 4 million mark in 9 months, as per the data shared by the company.

The smartphone was launched in India earlier this year in January in 3 variants costing between Rs 9,999 and 12,999.
To celebrate this occasion, Xiaomi designed world’s largest grain mosaic art spread across an area of over 6,000 square feet. The event took place at Thyagraj Stadium, Delhi. According to the Surveyors, the grain mosaic was made using 40,000 kilograms of food grains. Interestingly, the word ‘Xiaomi’ means millet in English.
