In an effort to ramp up its offline sales, the Japanese technology firm, Panasonic, introduced a fresh line-up for the upcoming festive season and unveiled its two new smartphones on August 9, 2017, in the Indian market. The Eluga A3 and A3 Pro have now been added to the company’s portfolio. The smartphone range is endorsed by the Bollywood actress Tapsee Pannu, after bringing in Varun Dhawan in May 2013. Both the smartphones will be up for sale from August 10, 2017, via offline channels from Panasonic brand shops and other retail outlets as well. The Eluga A3 is priced at Rs 11,290 while the Eluga A3 Pro will be available at a price point of Rs 12,790.
Both the smartphones boast an all metal body design with the fingerprint scanner mounted in front and are 9.1mm thick. They boast a 5.2 Inch HD display, a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and an 8MP selfie shooter. Android Naugat is present in both the phones along with Panasonic’s in-house Arbo Assistant. They also house a huge battery of whopping 4,000 mAh and 3GB of RAM. All major sensors, dual-SIM support, 4G LTE support, and OTG facility are also available. In terms of design, both the smartphones are similar. What differentiates them is the core hardware.
On the hardware side, the Eluga A3 houses a 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core chipset while the Eluga A3 Pro is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor. the Eluga A3 Pro comes with 32GB of onboard storage while the Eluga A3 has only 16GB.
The company is eyeing 5% of the smartphone market share with an expected revenue of Rs. 2,000 crores from its smartphone business and is set to launch a total 28 devices this year to achieve it. All the smartphones will be priced between Rs 6,000 and Rs 20,000. As many as 20 devices will be restricted to the offline market while the rest 8 will be up for sale on e-commerce websites.
