Google Pixel 2 to be the First Smartphone with Snapdragon 836

202

We have already seen many popular smartphone launches in 2017. Samsung recently released Galaxy Note 8, raising a firm competitor to both iPhone 8 and Pixel 2.

On the other side of the spectrum, many renders and leaks have come out, throwing light on the specifications of the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Let’s have a look at the speculated features on the two devices here.

Google Pixel 2 Rumoured to Launch on October 5

Much like the previous year, they will be releasing a Pixel and its larger sibling Pixel XL. Going by the trend, Google may opt for a near bezel-less display on the larger phone. Chances are they won’t do the same for the smaller Pixel.

Another trend we see in the gadget world is the popularity of 18:9 aspect ratio. We don’t see a reason for Google to overlook it. Both the smartphones may come with the same ratio with a screen of 1440p resolution (5.99-inch on XL and 4.97 on Pixel).

It is also speculated that the next generation Pixel series will have a squeezable frame, much like what we saw on HTC U11. Right from the Nexus days, Google partners with top OEMs for the manufacturing process. This time, HTC and LG got the opportunity to build the devices for the tech titan.

Underneath the hood, everyone expected Google to pop in Snapdragon 835. Then again, new leaks suggest them to have 836. They had chosen Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 instead of 820 last year too. Although we don’t notice any noticeable performance difference, it will help them get more mileage in the market.

They might not include more than 4 GB of RAM in these devices. That’s fine as we all know a 6 GB (let alone 8 GB) is overkill for a mobile device.

The company may also include dual front-facing speakers and omit headphone jack too. Moreover, as per the trends, we will be getting a dual rear camera setup as well.

Going by the rumours, they will release the smartphone on October 5.
